About Me

I run BVCR and as you know I love all animals but I've focused my attention onto cats for a while now because I find them to be very misunderstood and often mistreated due to ignorance.

About Me

This is me(Kosh) as Louise's. As you can see it's a pretty hard life for a cat, especially a kitten as cute as me. Well, I'm not exactly a kitten anymore. I'm having a rest after looking after Little Ashley and the other little kittens. Little Ashley likes falling off things, but gawd he's cute. Me mum still goes out to Louise's to see the cats Personally I think she's a bit dippy for doing it 'cause she's got me now. I know she like Louise and has the greatest admiration, (ooh! That's a big word for a little cat,) for how she cares for the cats. She can turn a feral into a cuddle cat in the blink of an eye. With some cats though, you have to blink very slowly.

About Me

I am German and met my Australian husband in Spain - as you do. Seven years ago I followed him to Australia and took up duck breeding.

Friends gave me my first dog as a wedding present - Max, the gentle giant. My husband Glenn found Misty, his Border Collie and the two dogs got on like a house on fire.

One and a half years ago a friend of mine sent me a picture of four tiny kittens that were about to be destroyed if they didn't find a home within the next 24 hours. I was not looking for a cat - having dogs and Bantam ducks but just wanted to safe a life. Within minutes I was a the vet surgery to pick up my "Tiger" and went home with "Tilda" as well.

And that was it, now we are totally under our cat's paws. Our cats and dogs love each other and even hunt rats and mice together in the duck yard leaving the ducks alone.

We also have rescued nearly 8 year old  "Uncle Toby" that was on display in our pet shop and about to go back to the shelter the next day. Toby had spent about 6 months in shelters, cages, pet shops and we just fell in love with each other through the cage wire. Again, I was not looking for a cat but I just couldn't let that Oldie go back to the shelter.  Toby had met our dogs in the pet shop and was fine with them so I took him home. Our cats gave him hell on earth for about 2 months but we persisted and Toby is now the happiest, luckiest pusscat ever and our girls really like him now. Toby is one very special cat and I will be forever grateful to have him in my life.

Toby is a free spirit and living in cages or indoors is just not his thing so it took a long time for Toby to get over his shelter experience.

Since there are so many unlucky cats without a loving home I have decided to become a foster carer for a cat rescue organization so that at least a few cats do not have to live in cages.

Well, and then three months ago I actually went looking for a rescue cat to adopt into our loving home since we have a lot of space on our property as well as in our hearts.

I found the right cat in yet another rescue organization and we call her lovingly "The Squirrel" since she looks like the cross between a Possum and a Squirrel but has just the most wonderful temperament.

And then there is our Benny who is our only cat that did not need rescue but came from an excellent breeder. Benny is so easy going and friendly and he simply adores his "Uncle Toby".

And last but not least there is my German Shepherd Puppy Lani. Since my older boy Max has such a lovely temperament I fell in love with this incredible breed that I have decided to breed a litter of German Shepherds that come from working stock like my girl.

I take Lani to sheep herding lessons and she also helps me rounding up the ducks at night to keep them safe in their pens.

Max is a Therapy dog and I take him to a nursing home to bring some joy to the elderly.

And as you can see, animals are my life!

About Me

Hi. We have not had a cat for several years now. The last one died just 2 weeks short of her 20th. birthday, and the others lived to a ripe old age.

My wife and I both love animals and have thinking about getting another cat, or maybe two.

My wife used to breed Persians and Siamese........and then we had children!

Cheers, Lee.

About Me

I found out about Brisbane Valley cat rescue when i was in desperate need of help.  I asked many other animal rescue organisations and BVCR was the 1st who replied and said they could take my babies in.  I was at the time without money and government assistance and had lost my rental property where I had lived with the cats.  I had no place for them and my self and they were on the streets where i would feed them when i could.  I was in desperate need of assistance and BVCR helped rescue my beautiful cats who otherwise would have gone to the pound.  I am totally grateful and have the utmost respect for what they do to help animals in need when their owners cannot.  I hope I can see them again one day and that even though I tried to find a stable home and get them back I would never be stable long enogh in one place and it isn't fair on them to be taken around Australia.  As it was they flew with me from South Australia to Brisbane which was very stressful for them and in SA we had moved three times.  Please think before buying kittens from a pet store, I couldn't just buy 1 as they were so attached toeachother.  I had to get them both, it would be unfair to split them come this far together.  I love them so much and want them to have the best home they can.

Thank you BVCR,

Forever grateful,

Claire

About Me

I have owned dogs cats & horses all my (now considerable) adult life - I love and treat my animals with care and respect, there is nothing I wouldn't do for them.

In fact I love all animals and cannot bear to even consider other people being cruel or neglectful to these beautiful creatures we share this planet with.

All my cats have been rescue cats and some have lived very long time - in fact one of them lived until 19 years (she wasn't the nicest cat - in fact she was a cat only a mother could love) but she had all the luxuries of a loving home same as all the others "kids".

We currently have an older border collie, a rescue (youngish) cat that lurves the dog (more than me) and and older horse so I'm looking to expand our household for another kitty soon.
