Sweet little Marble came into our lives on a whim when I read about BVCR in a recent magazine and I told my husband that we really needed another family member.  So we headed up past Atkinson Dam and greeted by 2 welcoming dogs when we arrived. A good sign for a cat shelter.

As my husband works from home and all our animals always gravitate towards him (he does have some nice qualities that pets like!)  and as I'm only around evening and early mornings (in a rush) and weekends, I wanted a pet that I could call my own, that would sleep with me, sit on my lap and purr.  We already had a dog, cat & horse at home, and we lost another cat about 20 months prior.

So we searched around the shelter and looked at some gorgeous kitties - really too spoilt for choice and it was really difficult to make a decision. And of course there were a number of kitties that gravitated towards my husband, but wasn't fussed with me - oh dear.  so we looked at all the little lovelies on offer (& even some not on offer), really I could have taken any one of them home - they are all well cared for, well known, well loved and well fed and well socialised.

So at the end of the search we ended up with one of the last kitties we saw - Marbles.  Soft of coat, affectionate, purring and just gorgeous.

So she came home with us - quiet and happy in the car - softly talking (meowing) at us everytime we spoke to her.  At home the dog said hello to her, the other cat, Millie, was not happy to see someone else on her turf. But MArbles was bold as brass and followed us around the place as if she had always been here.  Of course, she cuddled up on my lap, purred and slept on my bed with me the 1st (& every subsequent) night.

She established a little night time and early morning routine quickly - cuddling under the blankets with me around 3-4am (when its cold) licking my eyelids (no idea what that is about) to check if I'm awake, and lying on my shoulder until I get up.

We had a terrible scare on the following weekend when we had visitors over for the weekend and MArbles was not happy about it, and took off - I spent hours searching and calling for her, but fortunately she did turn up again the next day - much to both my and my husband's relief.

Anyway MArbles (or Miss Marple or Mumbles or the Phantom) seems very happy, loves to run around the paddock with me, the dog, and Millie, she's now learning how to climb trees.  Eats like a horse (or a dog) - loves her food, and best of all gives her new mum and dad and sisters lots of love and always excited to see everyone.

She is a real treasure and spoilt rotten and loving it.  I'll try to work out how to attach a photo as well.
